Yes..its sad but true. Clickbank isn’t open to ALL countries. As a Malaysian resident I’ve been facing all kinds of problems signing up to various sites such as Paypal (restrictions on cash withdrawals), Clickbank, Commission Junction and the list goes on. In some cases its due to the high fraud rate (why am I not surprised?) and in others its just the lack of demand. I was fortunate enough to be able to transfer my Clickbank registered address to Malaysia from the originally registered address in the UK.
For those who aren’t so fortunate, there is light at the end of the tunnel. You can still get a Clickbank account and withdraw your Paypal funds in Malaysia. Thanks to Gobala (a fellow internet marketer) who has written a book called Chapter-M on how to open a Clickbank account as well as withdraw your Paypal funds. Even people from other non-Click bank friendly countries will also benefit from the strategies that Gobala outlines in the book. If you’re really keen on Clickbank affiliate marketing and are struggling to open a Clickbank account then this book is well worth a read!

You’re probably thinking - what a weird title post! Last night I watched The Pursuit Of Happyness (starring Will Smith). Its an inspirational story about Chris Gardner who faced major challenges in his life and eventually became the owner of a multi million dollar brokerage firm. Its heart wrenching as you see Chris trying to juggle his internship programme with his son’s daycare and homeless shelters all in the search for financial independence. After watching the show I just realized how ‘determination & persistence’ are the two pillars in the success of any internet marketer. I’ve found that to get to where I am today I’ve had to muster the determination & strength I never knew existed and repeat the ‘I will not quit’ mantra countless times a day…
To be honest, succeeding in internet marketing is not difficult. It just takes a lot of time and effort. Take for example my PPC campaigns. In takes failure after failure to find one profitable niche. There were many many times where I just wanted to give up and go back to that day job! Yet I just kept telling myself..’the next one will be the one’…Success in internet marketing is more about mindset than technical capability or intelligence. Set the mind set right and half the battle is won! Here’s a little something about mindset from Stephen Pierce.

When it comes to landing pages its important to try and increase your click through rate. Click through rate or CTR in this case is NOT the CTR of your ads but of your landing page. For example, I’ve created a pre-sell landing page where I’ve written a short sales letter highlighting the benefits of the product I’m promoting. I then strategically place my Clickbank affiliate links on my landing page. I want as many visitors as possible to click through on the affiliate links and on to the merchant’s page.
Why use landing pages then? An optimized landing page reduces your minimum bid prices drastically. The challenge is to then maximize click throughs to the merchant page. I’ve never been able to achieve a 60% or more CTR. If I’m able to hit a 50% CTR then I pretty much stop testing and tweaking the landing page.
How do I measure CTR’s on my landing page? The Wealthy Affiliate which I’m been a member of for awhile now provides me with a tool that shows me the exact CTR of each page in Google Adwords. I’m then able to tweak my landing page until I get a good enough CTR.

Its been one and a half days since I put up my opt-in form on my landing page. I’ve just added the opt-in web form to my sales copy so it isn’t a squeeze page as such. I’ve also placed the form right at the bottom of the page. My primary aim was to get click throughs on my affiliate links and just capture the few visitors who may be interested in my newsletter. Had I just put up a short opt-in form with no other deviating links I’m sure my sign up would have been way higher. I’ve got 3 verified subscribers (verified = double opt in) in 2 days with a sign up rate of 1%. 1% is horribly low but then again my main aim is not to collect subscribers but to also get click throughs to test my new Clickbank product and that was evident in the placement and the design of my sales copy.
I use the Aweber auto responder and it also shows me the number of click throughs on my affiliate links within my newsletter. Really neat stuff! Guess I’ll just let it run for a few days and post up my sales results (if any….)

I experimented with a new campaign 2 days ago and I’m in the red. I made 3 sales but paid way to much for advertising. I figured some of my keywords were too generic and have since deleted them. I’ve realized that the key to profitable campaigns is lots and lots of targeted keywords. I just get too tempted sometimes to use highly searched on keywords that aren’t targetted.
I then decided to experiment with list building to see if I could save this campaign. I had signed up with Aweber auto responder about year ago but never really used it. I’d always been a bit lazy to dabble with list building but the process was quick enough. Inserting the opt-in box took only a few minutes. Most of my time was spent drafting out my 5 follow up emails. I just completed that about an hour ago. Now I’ll just have to sit back and see what happens. Good thing that Aweber provides click through tracking so you know how many percent of people clicked through on your link. I created a link in the emails with a specific Clickbank TID so I can track the number of sales that come in through my newsletter. I’ll write back again in a week with the results of my campaign…have a good weekend
