I was surfing around some of the affiliate marketing forums over the weekend and came across a CPA network section. CPA stands for Cost-Per-Action and a CPA network is pretty much similar to Clickbank accept CPA network merchants pay you everytime a specific action is taken. Most of the merchants on these networks will pay you per lead. So all the visitor has to do is to key in his email address on the merchant site and you get paid! Sounds a whole lot easier than having to actually sell anything. Or is it?
At the forum I was at, there was a lot of talk about how affiliates who were once Clickbank affiliates have now moved into the CPA marketplace due to much higher conversion rates and superior tracking system. After reading this I was tempted to try it out and see…I did some reading up and even applied to some of the most popular ones such as Azoogle and COPEAC. Application and approval took a quite awhile as for Azoogle I had to send via airmail a W8 form. COPEAC approved my application within 2-3 days. I haven’t actually started promoting them yet as I’ve had some questions and am awaiting replies from my account affiliate manager. Here are my thoughts :-

Its been a great weekend. Weekend sales are always the best for me. Today April 8th Clickbank retires their legacy system and users will no longer be able to login via the old legacy form. This according to Clickbank should improve on the tracking issues resulting in sales gaps that has been a huge complaint for a long time now. This in turn works out to more profits for us affiliates…yay…let’s wait and see how it turns out!
On a more joyful note…I wrote a couple of days ago that I had signed up to Under Cover Profits and started a new campaign based on the pre-monitored data provided. Here are the results :-
Total Clicks : 174
Total Sales : 2 @ $18 per sale
Conversion Rate : 1.1%
Total Commission Earned : $36
Total Ad Costs : $53
Total Profit = -$17

Guess what? I decided to take the plunge and subscribe to Under Cover Profits. I had decided to sign up a few days ago and to my dismay the membership was closed. I then signed up to the waiting list and within two days I got an email saying there were 19 spots left. I grabbed a spot this morning and have been really excited. Spent my whole morning plonking in keywords to monitor for profitable campaigns. You also get a bunch of free pre-monitored campaigns that you can use. I immediately started a new direct linking campaign using the pre-monitored data. I’ve already got a bunch of clicks in a few hours at insane CTR’s of above 10%. Only thing left remaining is the sales. Will let you know how that goes.
Back to what Under Cover Profits is really all about…UCP is essentially an Adwords ad monitoring tool. Its web based so no installation or hosting required. Good and bad I guess. Good because it does save you the hassle of having to install it yourself especially for non-techies and bad because I’m assuming that the admin has access to all this data. Oh well…I believe in the theory of abundance so I won’t worry too much about that. Anyway…

Went away for the weekend to the lovely Penang island. 3 days away from my computer really did me good. Not by choice though..heehee…the apartment that I stayed at didn’t have a phone line and too get online I had to stop over at Star Bucks. To my dismay the internet connection there was crawling. Think it had to do with some restoration works on the broken submarine cable caused by the Taiwan earthquake last year. Oh well….
Spent the weekend mostly reading, eating great hawker food and just bumming. Had yummy lo bak and wan tan mee at this coffee shop called 100. I’m missing the food now
Saturday night went to Bagan for some light drinks and entertainment. The singer Roz is superb…..if you ever get a chance make sure you check it out. Nice ambience, great band but slightly on the costly side. Money well spent tho!
Sunday morning slept in till 10am then out again for more yummy food. This time at the 3 sisters pai tee coffee shop in Pulau Tikus. Curry mee there is really good…too bad they were closed. We then walked a few shop lots down to the next coffee shop and stumbled across the best chicken rice. I still think Penang has better food than KL…hmmm…am I opening up a can of worms here and flaming posts? We’ll see…
