2007 - What Internet Marketing Case Studies Worked & What Didn’t?

This year has come and gone in a blink of an eye lid and its my 1 year anniversary! It was almost a year ago when I first got into internet marketing. In this year alone I believe I’ve achieved what only most struggling newbies can dream off. I quit my day job, earn many times more that what I earned at my day job, sit at my desk overlooking lush greenery, work whenever I feel like it and best of all, I finally got rid of that darn alarm clock! Am not saying this to brag but to tell you that it can be done and I’m a living example. Did I have a lot of cash to lay down? NO Did I have any IT knowledge whatsoever before I started? Barely..yes i could answer emails and chat on MSN but that was it! How did I get there? I would sum it up in 2 words - Learn & Action…

The 80/20 Rule As It Applies To Internet Marketing..

Ooh I’ve been slacking work the past month. Just been so caught up with the Christmas spirit that I hardly spent any time on my business. Am gonna give myself a break till next year and then its full steam ahead. Another reason why I’ve been slacking off is because I’ve finally plucked up the courage to delegate all ad group creation work to my virtual employee. It took me awhile to make that decision as I was really worried about privacy issues. I mean think about - they have full access to all your profitable keywords and landing pages etc. All they have to do is duplicate what you’re doing! How did I get around that?

In Yahoo I created a sub account and isolated developing campaigns from mature ones so that my virtual employee only has access to campaigns that he’s working on. I still haven’t figured out if this can be done on Google Adwords but will certainly find out soon. Don’t you just love outsourcing? I feel almost like I’ve cloned myself…my business is also really beginning to flourish and grow exponentially thanks to my dedicated virtual employee.

Back to the title of this post - the 80/20 rule.  I’ve done some analysis on my PPC affiliate marketing business and have found that it stays true to the universal 80/20 rule. 80% of my profits come from 20% of my campaigns and similarly 20% of my keywords bring in 80% of my profits (for any specific campaign). I’ve also been given the opportunity to peek into the business (legitimately of course) of super affiliates who make USD1million over a year and I’ve found this rule to be true there as well. I just find it so amazing how Pareto stumbled across it. Kudos to the Pareto!

My Nokia Battery Works!

Hurray….its been 2 days and my Nokia battery survives. It really works! So if you’re having battery problems with your Nokia 8800 then purchase the Sirocco battery and your problem is pretty much solved…Phew…this definitely saves me the headache of having to sell off my phone and get a new one. Not sure if a compatible battery will work as well but I figured I might as well just pay for an original especially with all those stories going around about exploding batteries and burnt cheeks…:(

My New Business Model

Building Internet Marketing Business No Comments »

Couple of things. First of all - I’ve cancelled my subscription to Rich Schefren’s Business Growth System. To those who haven’t heard of it its a 12 month online course on how to manage and grow your internet business. The course consists of 12 modules where one module is released every month. I was a subscriber for 6 months before I cancelled. The course is actually quite good but I found that there wasn’t enough detail on the actual mechanics i.e a lot of what and why but not enough how. You do get very good content on what you should do but I needed more details on how to do it. For the price I was paying (USD397 monthly) I just decided that it wasn’t something I wanted to continue with.

Whats In The Pipeline This Year?

General, Building Internet Marketing Business 1 Comment »

Its very important that I have very specific measurable goals. I’ve pretty much planned out what I’d like to achieve come year end and here’s my list :-

1) Work on a new $2500 PPC campaign every month  (By year end I should have 6x $2500 campaigns)

I use to run multiple new campaigns at a go and the testing & tracking just drove me up the wall. I got so confused tracking more than 3 campaigns at a time and so I decided to focus on only 1 campaign a month. I’ve found that this way I can really grow the campaign till it hits its maximum earning potential. I’ve also set a earning limit of $2500. Once I hit this I’ll stop actively working on the campaign and start a new one. I don’t stop working on it altogether - I still work on maximing the profits but not as actively as I usually would.

2) Grow my ebay business to $10k

With the help of my new employee my goal is to hit the $10k mark. My ebay ebook business is doing about $1500 at the moment and by year end it should reach $10k. This’ll definitely support my course-junkie habits and I’d also get to spend it on some cool handbags I’ve been eyeing for awhile now :)

I had a number 3 goal on this list but as of yesterday I decided to remove it. It was my PPC CPA business. I’ve decided to put that on hold for now and concentrate on the above two items. Its definitely something I’ll focus on next year. I’ve been making some pocket money from CPA so the potential is definitely there.
