Its freeeeeezing here in Star Bucks and for a Sunday the Mid Valley traffic seems to be unusually clear. These days I try to fit in a reading day where I spend a couple of hours once a week just reading and going through my book list. I’ve found that I tend to spend too much time on my business that I hardly ever have any fun anymore. Mind you I do consider sitting in front of my pc and developing campaigns or reading blogs fun (minus the wrist blisters and the blurring images due to eye fatigue). Gosh I sound like such a geek…but then again who cares
as long as I enjoy it.
Anyway….that brings me to the topic of todays post. I wrote a post last year about the purchase of my new iMac and how I couldn’t quite get the hang of it especially since a lot of the software I used ran only on Windows. Well…I’ve somehow gone back to using my Mac and parallels desktop (after getting extremely frustrated with my Windows Vista) and I feel like I’m on a highway as opposed to a dirt path. Things just work so much smoother on the Mac and I don’t get the sudden freezes or lag that I experienced with Vista. I’ve now decided to go Mac all the way. I currently have a 20″ iMac, a Vista laptop and desktop. I spend most of my time working on my Vista desktop (with a HP 22inch screen) and am now going to indulge in a Mac Pro. Imagine a Mac Pro with dual 30inch Apple Cinema Displays — sweet! Unfortunately the Mac Pro isn’t cheap and the 30 inchers are just pure indulgence so I’ll stick to using my HP 22inch for now….one step at a step i guess!
I’ve also just downloaded the new Google Chrome browser and am still playing around with it so can’t quite comment on anything yet but I must say it looks good and is quite speedy as well. I know some people who have actually ditched Firefox in favor of Google Chrome. Can’t say if I’m one of them but will keep you posted. Sigh* yet another browser platform to test my landing pages for…….
CPA Offers - yup its CPA all the way for me now. The only CPS offer I’m managing now are the ones that I built much earlier and were all Clickbank products. I’ve signed up to quite a few CPA networks and CPA conversions just rock! I go for the super high traffic niches. Since I’m gonna be spending time on a campaign it might as well have the potential to be really big.

I’ve been scratching my head for the longest time trying to install the Blackberry Desktop Manager on my new Vista machine. I previously had it running on my older XP machine without any problems. Initially I thought it was a problem with my pc so I rebooted it and still couldn’t get the BB desktop manager to install. I was using the disc that came with my Blackberry and I’ld click on the ‘Install’ link and nothing would happen for the next 3 minutes after which the installation would begin only to end up with an error message mid way. Grrrr….
Something was definitely up. I use my Blackberry pretty much for everything and constantly fiddling around with it. I’m either listening to some internet marketing related MP3 or watching videos. Helps kill waiting time I figure. Anyway…I did a search on the net and couldn’t quite find any info straight away but eventually I came across a site that provided a solution. It didn’t take me long and lo and behold I managed to install the Desktop Manager without any problems. So here’s an excerpt from the site. Hopefully it’ll help all of you who are suffering the same fate
Vista for some reason doesnt register VBScript. What you have to do is first of all find where vbscript.dll is, mine was in C:\Windows\System32, but I think it changes dependant on your version. Next you need to go to start -> accessories and the right click on command prompt and click “run as administrator”, next type “cd C:\Windows\System32″ (replace the dir if its differnt for you) and then type “regsvr32 vbscript.dll”. It should then confirm that vbscript has been registered and everything should work.

Wow…I just realized that its been a good 2 months since I last posted on my blog. Guess I’ve been busy with Christmas preparations, New Year parties and now Chinese New Year celebrations. How time flies! Heres a quick update on whats been happening :-
1) My Adsense blog project has suddenly picked up
I mentioned in one my previous post (a couple of months ago) that I had a failed Adsense blog project. I have not touched my blog since and lo and behold when I checked my blog traffic stats I was blown away. If you remember this blog is just a collection of articles (from articles directories) with a couple of Adsense ads plastered all over. Within 3 months I had massive traffic and a month after traffic just screeched to a halt where I was getting 20 visitors a day and negligible Adsense income. Since then I have not touched the blog. Today I did a quick check on the traffic stats and guess what? Have a look at my traffic screenshot below :-

I’ve actually been getting on average 500 unique visitors a day. How did that happen? I then had a look at my Adsense account and I made $15 last month. Not bad eh considering I’ve hardly worked on this blog at all. Now I’m inspired to put more effort into it and will look into inserting some unique content and testing & tweaking Adsense placement.

This year has come and gone in a blink of an eye lid and its my 1 year anniversary! It was almost a year ago when I first got into internet marketing. In this year alone I believe I’ve achieved what only most struggling newbies can dream off. I quit my day job, earn many times more that what I earned at my day job, sit at my desk overlooking lush greenery, work whenever I feel like it and best of all, I finally got rid of that darn alarm clock! Am not saying this to brag but to tell you that it can be done and I’m a living example. Did I have a lot of cash to lay down? NO Did I have any IT knowledge whatsoever before I started? Barely..yes i could answer emails and chat on MSN but that was it! How did I get there? I would sum it up in 2 words - Learn & Action…

Ooh I’ve been slacking work the past month. Just been so caught up with the Christmas spirit that I hardly spent any time on my business. Am gonna give myself a break till next year and then its full steam ahead. Another reason why I’ve been slacking off is because I’ve finally plucked up the courage to delegate all ad group creation work to my virtual employee. It took me awhile to make that decision as I was really worried about privacy issues. I mean think about - they have full access to all your profitable keywords and landing pages etc. All they have to do is duplicate what you’re doing! How did I get around that?
In Yahoo I created a sub account and isolated developing campaigns from mature ones so that my virtual employee only has access to campaigns that he’s working on. I still haven’t figured out if this can be done on Google Adwords but will certainly find out soon. Don’t you just love outsourcing? I feel almost like I’ve cloned myself…my business is also really beginning to flourish and grow exponentially thanks to my dedicated virtual employee.
Back to the title of this post - the 80/20 rule. I’ve done some analysis on my PPC affiliate marketing business and have found that it stays true to the universal 80/20 rule. 80% of my profits come from 20% of my campaigns and similarly 20% of my keywords bring in 80% of my profits (for any specific campaign). I’ve also been given the opportunity to peek into the business (legitimately of course) of super affiliates who make USD1million over a year and I’ve found this rule to be true there as well. I just find it so amazing how Pareto stumbled across it. Kudos to the Pareto!
