As many of you know I’ve been tracking Adwords competition with Under Cover Profits for about 3 weeks now. I hadn’t looked at the results for awhile and today I discovered something pretty shocking about Adwords affiliate marketers. I’ve been monitoring over 300 keywords for the past 20 odd days and today when I looked up the number of adwords advertisers that were still advertising after 20 days the results were astounding.
Only 1% of affiliates advertising on about 2% of the keywords still had their ad up and running after 20 days. These are not affiliates for just one type of industry but over at least 5 differrent industries that I had been monitoring. This was absolutely shocking to me. This means one thing :-
1) Majority of the keywords are not profitable
The ads that I monitored were all direct linking campaigns in which the affiliate linked directly to the Clickbank merchants site. It is possible that with your own landing page you may find that more and more keywords are profitable as compared to direct linking since you’re able to reduce your min bids by optimizing your landing page for relevance. The drop out rate of direct linked ads is huge. It only goes to show the amount of testing and cost involved in uncovering profitable keywords and campaigns. I just thought I’d like to share my findings with all of you.
I know I mentioned in my previous posts that I’d put up my blueprint. I’ve been busy over the long weekend (it’s a labour holiday as well as Wesak which is a Buddhist festival) so will put it up shortly…i promise. Happy holidays to all in Malaysia…drive safely and within speed limits!!

Hi Cheryl,
I’ve just dropped my mebership to UndercoverProfits, as it wasn’t proving to be effective in discovering profitable markets, and at $291 a month, it’s not exactly cheap..
I had noticed the same thing as you. In all the markets I was monitoring there was a very high proportion of ads that ran for just a few days before being dropped.
These markets included some that I am in and find profitable, but I do tend to use my own landing page and have an optin for an autoresponder for follow up emails.
In my experience this is the only way to make some markets profitable, and even then it can be difficult.
I’ve posted some of my test results on a blog of mine if you’re interested - IMTesting.com
cheers,
