Why switching from PC to Mac is the best thing thats ever happened to me?

I’ve been having endless problems with my Dell Inspiron laptop ever since I bought it a couple of months ago. Somehow Microsoft Frontpage doesn’t play well Windows (this happens only on my Dell) and every other time I use Frontpage I’m hit with the dreaded Blue Screen of Death. Everything I was working on went poof into a black hole and I had to start my web page designing from scratch. You can imagine my frustration. To top it all off my old Acer laptop decided to doom PC’s for ever and also started blue screening on me with a hardware malfunction error. Had hardware checked out and no problems there. Last thing I wanted to do was reformat my Acer so it was then that I decided to make the switch. The lovely new imacs didn’t make it difficult either.
Anyway…last week I decided to get myself a new 20inch imac. Headed down to Mid Valley and Bangsar Village looking for stock but alas there was a 2 week backlog. Did some calling around and EpiCenter in Pavilion had stock so I reserved it and bought it almost immediately. I brought it home, assembled it and spent the rest of the hours just admiring its beauty (yea yea corny i know). You must admit that it is one beautiful machine. Check out the pic of my new imac on my study table.
The imac comes with a very nice aluminium wired keyboard and a wired mighty mouse. As you can see from the pic I swapped the keyboard with the new wireless one which is much shorter in length. Today I’ll get myself a wireless mighty mouse. I have this thing with wires. My apple mouse is still a little stiff but should loosen up in time.
I also purchased Parallel Desktop so I could run Windows XP alongside Mac OS without having to reboot. This software is simply amazing. I can run Windows application e.g Keyword Elite, Text pad on Mac OS seamlessly and the Windows app just pops up in your Mac window. I can even dock my Windows apps. Check out this pic and you’ll see what I mean.

Look at how FileZilla the windows FTP client just opens up in the Mac OS as if its a native Mac application. Speaking of FTP clients, I just couldn’t find a Mac FTP client that I liked so I decided to stick with FileZilla. Notice also how I’ve docked the windows command prompt and the windows Textpad application on the dock. The dock is essentially the bar at the bottom of the screen with all the icons. Similar to windows quicklaunch bar.
My only gripe is the lack of memory so when parallel desktop is running launching of apps are a little slow. Am going to upgrade the memory to 2GB a little later and that should speed things up. RAM from Apple stores are hugely expensive cuz their Apple certified. I’ve heard that normal laptop RAM will do the trick and a 1GB is only RM103 compared to RM500 which is what Apple resellers wanted to charge me.
I’m loving every moment of my new Mac and am going Mac all the way. I’m waiting for the new lighter Mac Book and may just swap my old Acer road warrior lappy for nice new Mac. Its true what some people say about once you’ve switched from PC to Mac you’ll never go back!
