Helloooo everyone. I’m back from the World Internet Summit Singapore. I took the mid night bus down from KL on Friday and was in such a hurry that I forgot to bring my camera. Darn! I really wanted to snap some shots of Armand Morin, Stephen Pierce, Jay Abraham, Mike Filsaime..etc…anyway…what did i think of the World Internet Summit and did I get anything out of it?
For one I thought 4 days was a little draggy. Don’t get me wrong. It’s great to actually meet up and hear the guru’s share their wisdom and I did get a couple of ideas but each speaker would proceed to sell their course/software at the end of each speaking session. I have nothing against people trying to sell me stuff but I just felt that the seminar was more of a showcase of the speakers products and it got tiresome after awhile. Perhaps I went into it with different expectations!
A lot of the information shared were tailored towards the newbie marketer and it was good stuff for the newbies. I guess it all comes down to value and had I actually paid the full Gold ticket price of SGD995 I would have been dissapointed. As I got the tickets free I did enjoy the seminar and managed to pick up some really good ideas. Now I just need to implement them.
I’m in the process of hiring my first remote employee as I’ve been overloaded with work and have been ignoring my ebay business. I’ve been a the brink of losing my PowerSeller status (not that it matters that much) but I’d like to keep it going so my employee will focus primarily on growing my ebay ebook business.
Back to the World Internet Summit Singapore, I loved Mike Filsaime’s talk on his sales funnel and was even tempted to sign up to his coaching course (Decided against it due to dwindling finances). Stephen Pierce had a crew of successful protege’s come up on stage and it was very inspiring. I’m now very keen on attending his Unleash Your Marketing Genuis course when it comes to Malaysia in Q3.
There were at least 4000 people who attended the summit and unlike other summits before (this is the1st MEGA summit) there were no tables for laptops or anything like that. Just theatre style chairs (that weren’t very comfy) and worst of all no internet access! You would have thought that that would be the first thing they’d think of.
The expo hall was huge, big sound system and a few fun games to keep the audience going. The internet challenge of raising $100k in few days was achieved and best of all - the money was given to charity! Would I attend another World Internet Summit? Yeah…I would (but not if I had to pay for Gold ticket pricing). The cheaper alternative would be just fine!
